QIS is an English-speaking private day school located in Doha, capital city of the State of Qatar. The school follows the National Curriculum of England for students ranging between 3 and 18 years of age.
The Qatar International School was founded by the Owner Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Thani Al Thani and the previous Principal, Mrs Griffin.

QIS wishes all our families a safe and happy half-term holiday. We look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 20 May. REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED there are select places available for Year 12 & 13 (application and preference forms available from reception). Please note that the end of Term 3 will now be Wednesday 26 June 2013 for students. The Term 3 half term dates are Thursday 16 May until Sunday 19 May, school will resume on Monday 20 May.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based upon the EYFS of England and Wales. The Foundation Stage curriculum is for children aged three to the end of the Reception year. It is organised into six areas of learning, all of which are given equal status.

Young children learn best when they are actively involved in their learning, we carefully plan activities as:

Well planned play is a key way in which young children learn with enjoyment and challenge through the Foundation Stage.

We plan our learning experiences around topics or cross curricular themes which allow children to develop skills across all 6 learning areas.

In Reception children have a more formalised timetable and have Quran and Arabic lessons in addition to being taught by class teachers.
