Subject Details

The school broadly follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales, with all teaching carried out in English (except Arabic, Qu'ran and French lessons).

Primary education is based around the class teacher who takes his / her group of children for the majority of the school day, covering all the main subject areas. This enables the teacher to closely monitor the progress of individual children, building a special relationship with them over the year.

We reinforce this by using specialist teaching for certain subjects, such as Arabic, Quran, Music, French and Science. More details are available in the Subject Details section.

For a small number of activities, such as reading groups and mental maths, we pool students across the year group. This allows them to be grouped by ability, with each group progressing at its own pace.

Assessment

All students sit examinations at the end of each term, based on the UK's SAT tests. Examination results are sent home to parents, who then are invited to attend a parents evening to discuss their child's progress.

A full school report, which includes detailed comments oneach subject, is prepared at the end of each academic year.
