The school has a pool of
around 40 flats/villas for expatriate staff. Of these, 14
flats are located on the school grounds while the remainder
are properties rented on the open market, and distributed
around Doha.
The single accommodation consists mainly of one bedroom
flats with a living/dining area and seperate kitchen.
We also rent a number of small villas on compounds on
the fringes of Doha. These are typically 2 - 3 bedroom.
Most accommodation is within 20 minutes drive of the
school.
Financial
All expatriate staff are provided with free accommodation,
inclusive of basic furnishings.
Staff are generally responsible for payment of their
own electricity and water, and are expected to deal direct
with the utility companies for payment of the monthly
bills. For this they receive a supplementary allowance
of QR.200 per month.
Staff pay their own telephone charges which are billed
monthly.
Married couples
We are occassionally asked to prove couples sharing accommodation
really are married. It is therefoe important to bring
a copy of your marriage certificate with you. Couples
who are not married will not be permitted to share, as
this breaches Qatari law.

Checking In and Out
On arrival, staff will be given an inventory
list for their accommodation for agreement by
both parties. When vacating a School property,
this inventory will be re-checked and deductions
made for any losses, negligent damage or costs
incurred in returning it to a clean and serviceable
condition ready for the next occupant.
As their sponsor in Qatar, the School is legally
responsible for the actions and liabilities of
its employees. Therefore staff leaving the School
at the end of the Academic Year will have a deduction
of QR. 2,000 each from their Summer holiday pay:
this will be held as a deposit to indemnify the
School against damage to their housing and / or
outstanding debts in Qatar (such as international
telephone calls and utilities bills).
There is a simple clearance procedure widely
in use within Qatar whereby staff can demonstrate
that they are up-to-date with telephone bills,
utility bills, have closed their bank accounts
etc.. Where staff complete these procedures, and
have satisfactorily checked out of their accommodation,
the QR.2,000 deposit will be returned to them
in cash before departing Doha. Failing this, the
money will be forwarded on to them as soon as
the final bills have been received.
