Job Description
Role: Careers Educational Advisor with Examination support.
Responsible to: Examinations Manager.
Job Purpose:
The position is designed to increase the assistance we give students when they are considering further education after school, as well as assisting them in important decision making events in school. This position will also be aiding the Examinations Manager when required.
Personal attributes required:
The advisor must have the ability to develop rapport with the students and be able to present information to whole school groups. The position also requires the advisor to be pro-active, organised, approachable and efficient with strong administrative skills and willingness to expand and develop the role.
Working conditions:
The Careers advisor will be on a contract that requires them to be present for all official school working days and events, including being available to supervise the homework room on Monday from 1 to 2pm and being available for students on another afternoon from 1 to 2pm.
Key Tasks:
- Provide Career and Subject Selection advice for individual students.
- Liaise with universities organising visits and meetings.
- Attend careers information sessions run by the various universities and interest groups.
- Develop a network of contacts that students can use when investigating careers options.
- Develop a network with fellow counsellors in other schools to discuss common issues.
- Holding information sessions for students regarding career advice.
- Develop resources and information regarding Universities, entry requirements and procedures.
- Develop an understanding of the SAT system, giving advice to students on the system, planning and running training on the SAT’s and investigate the possibility of QIS becoming a centre for the SAT’s.
- Develop an understanding of the TOEFL / IELTS system, giving advice to students on the system.
- Overseeing and organising the reference and transcript process including writing student references required by universities from the school.
- Do an annual review and develop a database of contacts and information on students who left QIS in Years 12 and 13 to understand where our students go and learn from their experiences.
- This data will be used to improve the information and opportunities offered to existing students.
- Be available for students on the key aspects of careers – CV writing, personal statement writing, SATs, TOEFL.
- To be pro-active in reviewing the role of careers counsellor to look at ways the role can be improved and developed and to offer ideas to SMT on this.

Secondary Teacher of Mathematics
We are seeking a secondary teacher to teach mathematics (preferably to A level) with ICT. The successful applicant will join our hard-working team in August 2012. - Be a qualified teacher preferably with at least 2 years experience in a British School

- Be able to use ICT competently to enhance children’s learning
- Be adaptable and open-minded
- Be prepared to contribute to the wider life of the school

Head of ICT
