Dear Parents

International Award for Youth

This year has seen over 70 of our students complete the International award at both Bronze and Silver level. This International Award for Youth has a world-class reputation and helps students significantly when they apply for employment or university places. It is an enjoyable challenge for young people and the scheme has been an undoubted success, with some students having the unique honour of being presented their Bronze Awards by H.R.H. the Duke of York (son of the Queen of Britain).

Your son/daughter is now eligible to join this scheme.  I am therefore attaching for your information:

1.      A web address for the organisation International Award For Youth www.intaward.org  You will be able to find about a great deal of information about the award from this web site. Go to the section “About the award” to find out about the Skill, Physical recreation, Service and Expedition requirements.

2.      The QIS web site at www.qis.org also has information, articles and forms under the extra curricula activities section.

3.      A Registration Form to participate in the International Award with ideas about the 4 areas to develop.

Please read the information here and on the website carefully.  If you would like your child to participate in the Award this year return a completed Registration Form with QR 300 to the School Office(QR150 for students who have completed Bronze or Silver). Your child should then bring the receipt to my office.

Yours sincerely

Expedition Section.

For this section Students usually go Walking and Camping in the desert in Qatar, however, we are trying to organise a trip to Oman for this purpose or undertake a sailing expedition which is offered by the Regatta Sailing Academy.

The sailing expedition to Bahrain course meets the requirements of the Physical Recreation, Skill and the Expedition requirements of the Award.  This was a popular and very successful choice last year (see the web site) so I recommend it to anybody with an interest in the sea, but places are limited so it is essential you reserve a place now.

If you would also like to book a place on the sailing course / expedition to Bahrain, you should include a further QR500 deposit payable to the Regatta Sailing Academy.
